Why do I have lower back pain?
A large proportion of the population is concerned by back pain, and more specifically lumbar pain, commonly known as lower back pain. The lumbar vertebrae are the last 5 vertebrae in our spine, just above the coccyx, and it’s they that are called upon when we carry or lift something, when we perform a rotation, and it’s also they that maintain our entire back. Of course, it’s not just our lumbar vertebrae that perform all these functions: they’re connected by muscles and ligaments, and separated by discs that act as shock absorbers. Many of the pathologies that lead to pain occur when shocks, overstraining or sudden movements affect the lumbar vertebrae and the system that supports them. Lower back pain can also be caused by a lack of abdominal muscles or a deficiency in the abdominal girdle, which is also stressed at the same time as your lower back. In all cases of low back pain, wearing a lumbar orthopedic corset is recommended to relieve the pain, and is sometimes even enough to cure it.
What is a lumbar orthopedic corset?
In our store, we offer flexible lumbar corsets, of the lumbar support belt type. These soft belts are elastic, easily attached with scratches around your abdomen, and feature steel bars at the back to hold the vertebrae in place. By compressing the abdomen, our lumbar orthopedic belts, known as corsets, keep the abdominal girdle in the correct posture, i.e. inwards towards the spine. Acting as a support for your back, the lumbar orthopedic belt or corset keeps your trunk in correct posture and relieves pressure on the lumbar region. The compression exerted by the lumbar belt acts like a painkiller, relieving pressure by distributing weight more evenly over the intervertebral discs. By being immobilized and with good posture, you avoid “false movements” and positions that cause you pain. Our lumbar orthopedic corsets can be worn discreetly under clothing to provide lasting relief without altering your daily routine or hindering your movements.
Why and when to wear a lumbar orthopedic corset?
Why?
If you suffer from lower back pain, our lumbar orthopedic corsets are the ideal solution for relief. Whether you have degeneration, a deviated spine, pinched discs, lumbago, etc., your lumbar vertebrae need to be supported to prevent attacks of pain. If you play sport too, your lumbar vertebrae can be put to a severe test, and to relieve them, the lumbar orthopedic corset, by compressing the back and abdomen, will help you avoid pain, whether mild or chronic. Static people also suffer from low back pain. If you work at a desk, for example, or drive long distances, our lumbar support belts will help you maintain the right posture, for less pain. Anyone suffering from lumbar pain, whether mild, intense, chronic or transient, will find relief by wearing one of our lumbar orthopedic corsets with immediate effect.
When?
We recommend wearing our lumbar orthopedic corsets when you have an acute pain attack, to immobilize this area, while continuing your activities. The belt will also keep your back warm, relieving pressure on the muscles. You can also wear them as a preventive measure, if your work involves strenuous effort, or to avoid a recurrence of pain. After an attack of pain, continue to wear a lumbar support corset to reduce muscle contraction due to fear of pain when you resume your activities, as the lumbar support belt will help you recover your mobility naturally.
When you make an effort that strains your lumbar muscles, your abdominal muscles also contract. By wearing a lumbar support belt, your muscles will put pressure on the belt, creating a kind of block, and your trunk will be strengthened, preventing your lumbar muscles from having to bear the pressure alone. If you have to make strenuous physical effort, such as carrying or lifting loads, wearing our orthopedic lumbar corsets will help your lumbar vertebrae to work less.
